Singing Waters, A Selection of Haiku, Senryu, and Haibun

This April, my career will come full circle when my first book of poetry (for grown-ups) is released for National Poetry Month. I began my creative career as a poet in the 1970s after my Aunt Mary gave me a "nothing book” of empty pages to fill up with my poetry. Writing poetry was and is my first love which now seems odd that I have published eleven recordings and 29 books, and this is my first book of poetry.

I was captivated by haiku when on a vacation, in the Western North Carolina mountains in the 1990s, a friend first introduced me to the Japanese poetic form. I jumped in Basho’s frog pond with both feet, and enjoyed the swim ever since.. Singing Waters is a selection of over 100 of my previously published haiku, senryu, and haibun in one volume (Buddha Baby Press). This is a book for grown-ups, but a haiku book for children is in the works. I hope you enjoy the splash.
