Rain or shine,
it's back to school time,
and I have new virtual
educational programs
for you!
This spring, in a matter of weeks, I quickly learned some new video production and editing skills I never thought I would need, and my record producer husband Scott found himself becoming a videographer and sound engineer as we scrambled to turn my in-person Summer Reading Program into a virtual one. I discovered that Facebook and Instagram live streaming were not the best options for children's programming, and I moved to more meaningful viewing platforms.
Though there were moments of frustration and joy, we were able to successfully launch, from our living room, my first virtual programs for television, libraries, national parks, festivals, and special events across the nation. Most importantly, children were able to watch the programs on child-friendly platforms from the comfort of their homes.
Thankfully, I received so much positive feedback that New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell's Office of Cultural Economy asked me to produce a family version of their popular Embrace the Culture Series.
Now that school is back or heading back in session (in several forms), I have created virtual versions of my in-person school programs (see details below)! I hope to be part of your school experience this year!
This school year, join me “in my living room!”
There are two types of virtual options to my school concerts and author programs; 1) pre-recorded, and 2) virtual live. Both run thirty minutes, and are perfectly suited for distance learning for pre-kindergarten to third grade audiences.
The pre-recorded program is available on my private viewing platform, and is intended for singular or multiple classroom viewing. The virtual live program is available on Zoom, Skype or FaceTime, and is intended for small, singular classroom viewing.
Virtual author visit - I read several of my popular books, sing select “singable” books, give a cut-paper collage illustration demonstration, and talk about the craft of writing to inspire budding writers, illustrators, and life-long readers.
Virtual concert - I sing several of my popular songs, sing select “singable” books, and talk about my passion for sharing Louisiana music styles and cultural heritage with children.
Students will enjoy these popular recordings and books that
accompany my virtual programs!
